An Attempt at Poetry

Oh dear world, what have you done to me?
I was unavailable, but now I am free.

Well, I am not free, but I am exhausted.
The work I have done doesn’t need to be boasted.

I have chosen to be poetic because I am bored.
The opinions in this post are to be ignored.

The shenanigans of work are not to be shared.
The details of my life are not to be aired.
I am generally always happy,
But you might feel that I am crappy.

What is the purpose of life?
Work, eat, sleep, love, or die?
I am not sure—what makes you happy?
Sleeping with many thoughts makes me crappy.

Generally, we worry about the future,
Or relive the embarrassment of the past.
But when we are happy, we don’t want it to pass.

Happy or sad, the moment has to pass.
Ah, but time is draining from the hourglass.
You think you have worked hard,
But who cares? You did it for the reward.
All your rewards are yours to keep,
But the time you spent is yours to weep.

So stop basking in the glory of your past,
And start working for the future that will last.

One may argue that you live only once,
That is true—so am I a dunce?
Well, I agree with the choices you make,
But don’t blame luck for the decisions you take.
No choice is wrong, no choice is right,
All you have to do is own it with all your might.

Life is a game, but you can pass.
Oh, I think I need to touch some grass.

But believe me, I am not sad,
I am just bored and a little mad.

Yes, that’s right, I am not sad,
I am just mad for being constantly bad.

I am bad at keeping my resolutions,
I am bad at avoiding illusions,
I am bad at making revisions,
I am bad at making conclusions,
I am bad at making decisions,
I am bad at finding solutions.

But dear friends, do as I preach, not as I do,
Because I am a hypocrite, and so are you.

But what is the purpose of life
If not to improve and strive?
Sometimes we may thrive,
Sometimes we may dive,
But in the end, we all survive.
